Description: We are a limited admissions rescue that believes in helping every kitty we can, by ensuring it will not reproduce an unwanted litter of kittens and by also helping those that are abandoned, unwanted and homeless find a loving forever family home. Every life matters!

The ASPCA estimates that approximately 2.7 million healthy, and perfectly adoptable pets are euthanized each year.  Of that number 70% are kittens and cats.

With your help, we can prevent this from happening by helping reduce these numbers.

We a group of individuals committed to helping cats and people in our community.  Our goal is to help with the problem of cat over-population.

Our Shelter & Adoption Center can house about 50 cats and kittens at a time, so we rely on volunteer Foster Homes.  We are hoping to move to a bigger building some day so that we can help many more kitties!

We also have a Thrift Store that is located just a few doors down from our main shelter that is located close to downtown Salem. Sales from the thrift store help offset some of the costs of caring for the kitties.

Opportunity Information

Name: PetSmart Cat Care (Lancaster Drive)
Issue Area(s):
  • Environment and Animal Rescue
Start Date: 01/01/2017
End Date: 12/31/2017
Description: PetSmart Cat Care (Lancaster Drive)

There are morning and early evening shifts available 7 days per week.  Shifts are a bit flexible as far as start time.  Proper cleaning and play time takes about an hour to an hour and a half.  Each person is assigned at least one shift on a specific day of the week.  This is a GREAT opportunity for parents looking to do a community service with an age appropriate child.

Responsibilities include: Cleaning of kennels, cages and adoption rooms which includes litter boxes, sanitizing with bleach and feeding the kitties and giving each one some play therapy time.

We rely heavily on the volunteers performing this very necessary duty and only ask for you to commit to a regular day and shift, even one time per week.  The kitties always need care, even on holidays, but we can work with you on a schedule that can work.
