Description: SIGNATURE HOSPICE provides an individualized program of physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of a life-limiting illness, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms.  The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible, and in familiar surroundings.

Signature Hospice affirms life.  Signature Hospice believes that providing care for a terminal patient is a sacred and honored opportunity to help people live as fully as possible while embracing the demands of terminal illness.   We believe every little thing we do, can and will make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Description: Signature Hospice invites you to share your compassionate heart and spirit with patients and families in your Salem community. Companionship is many things -- listen to stories of a lifetime of sweet memories, share holiday memories, music and activities, read poignant prayer or poetry, hold a hand in gentle silence. Our patients love the one-to-one attention our volunteers share. Come be part of the this loving journey.

Hospice Companion Volunteers -- spend an average of 2 hours a week visiting patients and families living in Salem, McMinnville, Woodburn, Sheridan, Silverton, Sublimity, Aumsville, Dallas, Dayton and many other local Marion and Yamhill county communities. Visits are extremely flexible.

Hospice Companion Interns -- gain direct experience learning about hospice as healthcare. Spend the majority of your time at bedside with patients, shadow clinicians in the field, attend clinical team meetings, workshops and Signature Hospice events. Learn about the aging and dying process, family dynamics, spirituality and spiritual support, psycho-social dynamics and support,  and the interdisciplinary approach to hospice and palliative healthcare. Interns will spend as many hours a week as needed to complete their internship credit hours/goals.

Our next volunteer training is comprised of three sessions -- January 27th, 28th, and February 3rd. For an application packet and additional information contact Michele Fuchs at Signature Hospice, mfuchs@4signatureservice.com, 503-924-8922. Visit our website at www.4signatureservice.com.
